The severe weather system that has affected areas around the southern Mediterranean, including Algeria and Italy, has also caused flash flooding in Tunisia.
Institut National de la Météorologie-Tunisie reported that at least 6 locations recorded more than 80mm of rain in 24 hours to 13 November, 2019.
Tunisian Ministries of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research suspended classes in all educational institutions in a number of governorates as a result of the heavy rainfall.
Civil Defence in Tunisia reported flash flooding in the city of Fernana (Firnanah), Jendouba governorate on 12 November. One person died after being swept away by flood water in the city, according to news agency Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
