Homes have been damaged and families displaced after heavy rain in Cunene Province in southern Angola.
Angola Press News Agency said that hours of rain on 03 December caused flooding in in the city of Ondjiva. At least 7 houses were destroyed or severely damaged, displacing around 60 people. Several shops and other commercial buildings were flooded, as well as roads in the city and suburbs.
The severe weather also downed trees and power lines, leaving some areas without electricity.
Ondjiva, as city of around 190,000 people, is the administrative capital of Cunene Province in the far south of Angola, around 40km from the border with Namibia.
Cunene has suffered drought conditions for the last few months, causing severe hardship in the province, in particular for farmers.
