Democratic Republic of the Congo – Heavy Rain Triggers Deadly Landslide in Ituri Province

Heavy rain in Ituri province, Democratic Republic of the Congo, from 15 August, triggered a deadly landslide in a mountainous area close to the western banks of Lake Albert.

Parts of a mountainside collapsed on 16 August, triggering a landslide which impacted the fishing village of Tora. Local media report that at least 200 people died and 50 homes were destroyed.
