Heavy rain has caused further damage and flooding in central parts of Mozambique just weeks after at least 28 people died and 58,000 were affected by by floods in January this year.
The recent heavy rainfall has increased levels of the Búzi, Púnguè and Zambéze rivers, with some flooding reported in Búzi and Nhamatanda in Sofala Province.
However the worst of the flooding until now has been in Manica Province, where two people died in Sussundenga District. Furthermore flooding has left around 500 families in need of food assistance and temporary shelter according to local media.
Chimoio, the capital of Manica Province, recorded 175mm of rain in 24 hours to 12 February, and the town of Catandica recorded 154mm.
