Argentina – Floods in Entre Rios Leave 1 Dead and 30 Evacuated

Flooding in the province of Entre Ríos in Argentina, has left 1 person dead, more than 30 evacuated and 1,600 requiring assistance.

Heavy rain affected parts of the province from Thursday 03 May, 2018 and continued into the following days. Over 300 mm of rain was recorded in Feliciano according to a statement by the government of Entre Rios.

One man died in flood water in Santa Elena, La Paz department. Gualeguay and Feliciano departments were also badly affected.

The Arroyo Feliciano river overflowed in Feliciano, cutting roads and access to parts of the department. Levels of the Feliciano River are extremely high and officials said it is likely the river will overflow in an area known as Paso Bravo. The Arroyo Chilcacito river also overflowed, causing flooding in Chañar district in Feliciano department.

The provincial government has activated an emergency committee to assist the affected families.
