Heavy rainfall caused damaging flash floods in Jamaica on 08 January 2021.
According to media reports, St James Parish in the north west of the island was the worst affected area.
Over 40mm of rain fell in just a few hours, triggering flash floods which damaged roads and buildings in several areas of the parish including the city of Montego Bay. Media reports said flood water and debris swept through streets, dragging along vehicles. Several people reportedly sustained injuries in the floods.
