Heavy rainfall in the Iranian provinces of East and West Azerbaijan has led to flooding and landslides. At least 2 people have been reported killed – a man and a young boy aged 10 – in East Azerbaijan. Around 200 houses have been damaged, and the Red Crescent has reported that 400 people had to be evacuated.
The worst of the landslides occurred in the mountainous area between Miyaneh and Zanjan. The flooding has also affected railway lines connecting Miyaneh with Tehran. The cities of Miyaneh, Tabriz and Khajeh are also said to have been affected.
