3 Missing After Floods in Eastern Visayas, Philippines

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) that was formerly Tropical Depression “Domeng” brought severe weather, including around 115mm of rain, to parts of the Eastern Visayas region (Region VIII) of the Philippines during 15 and 16 April, 2014.

Philippines News Agency (PNA) announced that 3 people are missing after the severe weather struck. The three, thought to be a couple with a young child, went missing in their boat during the storm.

The heavy rain also cause flooding and landslides across the region. Around 1,800 families in low-lying areas have been affected. The PNA said the villages affected include:

Agsam, Naga, Trinidad, Bantayan, Iwayan, Minap-os, Alangalang, Cadian, Cagdine, Batang, Buntay, Rizal, Cagtoog, Capile, Gamot, and Balingasag.

The LPA is forecast to dissipate some time today, 17 April 2014.
