Heavy rainfall in Bangladesh caused flooding in low lying areas of Bagerhat District, Khulna Division from 23 October.
According to local media, 38,000 people have been affected, although local authorities have yet to complete full damage assessments. Local authorities have distributed relief items including food rations. Flooding has caused damage to livelihoods, in particular to thousands of shrimp enclosures which have been swept away.
Heavy rain from 22 to 25 October was brought by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
