State media in China are reporting that nearly 180,000 people were affected by floods in the southwest Guizhou Province during mid-September.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Guizhou Province witnessed its highest rainfall since 1961 during the period 09 to 18 September,
Xinhua said that 52 county-level regions were affected by flooding and heavy rain. As many as 44,791 houses were damaged and 1,504 destroyed. Thousands of people evacuated their homes and were moved to 40 temporary relocation sites set up by the provincial government.
