Disaster authorities in Indonesia report that 3 people have died in recent flooding in West Java and Central Kalimantan Provinces.
Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) said flooding hit Cimahi Tengah District in West Java on 21 April after the Ciputri River broke its banks. One person died after being swept away by flood water in Cimahi City. Local disaster agencies have evacuated some residents and are carrying out damage assessments.
Flooding was also reported in Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. BNPB noted that this is unusual for the time of year.
The flooding occurred in Damang Batu District on 20 April after heavy rain. At least 3 people died and 3 are still missing, according to BNPB. As of 22 April search and rescue operations were ongoing and some evacuations have been carried out.
