Indonesia – Deadly Landslide in South Sulawesi

At least one person has been killed in landslides in Indonesia‘s South Sulawesi province.

Two landslides occurred early on 26 March in Rembon district, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi. The second slide destroyed two houses, leaving one person dead, according to local media.

Rain is thought to have triggered the slide after heavy downpours in area over the last few days

Malaysia – Landslides and Floods

Meanwhile in Malaysia, a landslide killed 2 people in Gunung Jerai on 22 March. On 25 March the Malaysian Department of Minerals and Geoscience (JMG) said the landslide was a result of illegal excavation activity.

Also in Malaysia, 18 people from 5 families evacuated their homes after flooding in Alor Gajah in Malacca State on 24 March, following a period of heavy rain from 23 March.
