Iran – Deadly Floods in Gilan and Ardabil Provinces

Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) reports that at least 2 people died in flooding in the provinces of Gilan and Ardabil in northern Iran.

Flooding occurred after heavy rain in mid July. Flash floods affected Talseh, Siahkal, Rezvanshahr, Fuman and Masal counties in Gilan Province from around 13 July.

IRCS reported 1 fatality Talseh country, where several homes and a bridge were damaged or destroyed. Homes and roads were damaged or destroyed in Siahkal and Fuman counties.

Meanwhile heavy rain triggered flash flooding in neighbouring Ardabil Province. Two people were swept away by flood waters in Ardabil County on 14 July. IRCS said on 16 July they recovered the body of one of the missing, while the search continues for the other.
