Iran – Deadly Flooding in Northern Provinces

Further heavy rainfall in Iran caused flooding in the Northern provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan from October 12 to 14, 2019.

Iranian Red Crescent aid workers have assisted 105 affected people in 63 urban and rural areas.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, houses were damaged by the flooding in Gilan, which affected the counties of Anzali, Someh Sara, Amlash, Roudsar, Talseh, Shaft and Masal. One person died and one was rescued after a motorcycle was swept away by flooding in Someh Sara. Six people were injured in the province.

At least 5 people died and over 100 were displaced after heavy rain caused flash floods in southern Iran earlier this month. A period of heavy rain from 01 to 04 October 2019 caused flooding in provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, South Khorasan, Fars and Hormozgan.
