Minister of state for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Aijaz Ahmed Khan gave some officila figures for the floods that had strcuk the region of Jammu during 2013.
In a written reply to an assembly question by JSM member Ashwani Kumar, he said that as a result of flooding during 2013 in Jammu:
- 29 people died
- 30 were injured
- 15,712 building were damaged including 14,411 houses, 1,205 agricultural buildings and 96 other commercial premises
- Rs 25,61,550 has been provided to the affected families as a compensation.
The worst of the flooding struck Jammu during August 2013. Heavy rainfall caused flooding, landslides and several rivers to overflow. Around 9cm of rain fell in a 24 hour period during mid August in Jammu City.
