Local media in Papua New Guinea report that flooding has caused widespread material damages in parts of Port Moresby.
Heavy rain fell in the area 22 to 23 September, with the city recording 120mm of rain, around 70mm of which fell in a 6 hour period.
Papua New Guinea newspaper The National said that “Port Moresby’s 14-Mile area was flooded after heavy rain and the opening of the reservoir floodgates on Mt Eriama early yesterday morning.”
No casualties were reported but there were extensive damages and losses to properties, businesses and infrastructure in the area.
