Flash flooding has caused damage and destruction in Eastern Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea, leaving communities without homes and livelihoods.
Hundreds of people have been displaced after flooding from the Mapemo river in Goroka district. The river broke its banks early on 13 January, 2020, sweeping through nearby villages damaging or destroying homes, crops and livestock.
According to local media reports, flooding has left the local community devastated, with homes and livelihoods destroyed.
