Severe weather, including stormy seas and strong winds, affected parts of Italy from around 22 to 24 April, 2019. Heavy rain increased river levels in parts of Tuscany and Liguria Regions. As of 24 April, at least 1 person had died in flood waters and 2 were missing.
Civil Protection in the country report that the body of an elderly woman was found after a vehicle had been swept away by flood water of the Pavone river in Castelnuovo Val di Cecina municipality, Pisa province, Tuscany Region on 23 April, 2019. A passenger of the car managed to escape to safety.
Meanwhile in the Savona area in Liguria Region, firefighters continue the search for two women who were swept way by the flooding Letimbro River near Via Cimavalle in Santuario.
Earlier, media reported that one person died in high waves along the coast of Porto Corallo in the Municipality of Villaputzu on the island of Sardinia.
