Romania – Flooding in 11 Counties Leaves Homes, Roads and Bridges Damaged

A period of heavy rain from around 06 May, 2019, caused some minor flooding in parts of Romania.

According to the country’s emergency agency, Inspectoratul General pentru Situatii de Urgenta (IGSU), flooding affected 11 counties: Argeș, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Călărași, Iași, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Prahova, Suceava and Vaslui.

IGSU said that 9 people were preventively evacuated from areas where there was an imminent risk of floods. Emergency services were called to pump flood water from around 300 properties.

Local media reported that increased river flows damaged several bridges in Vaslui and Neamt counties, where at least 2 houses were destroyed by flooding in the village of Crăieşti.
