As part of our efforts to document in some way each major flooding incident from around the world, we are now working on building a collection of photos and images from the series of storms and floods that struck the UK, Ireland and parts of North West France during December 2013 and January 2014.
Below is a portion of the images we have collected so far. Please see the full collection of photos on our Pinterest Boards.

Four Storms in 30 Days
The storms and floods during December 2013 and January 2014 have been some of the worst in 20 years. See our report on the storms of 5 January here. For more information on the series of storms and floods in France, see our report here.
The January 2014 storms came on the back of earlier severe weather which struck during the Christmas period for many households in southern England and parts of Wales.
Just one week before the Christmas storms, “Storm Emily” caused widespread flooding and storm damage.
At the begining of December, the UK and Ireland suffered from storms and tidal surge flooding, with the storm being named “Xavier” by some. Below are photos of some of the damage and destruction caused by the tidal surge floods and “Storm Xavier” on 5 December 2013.
