Three of the largest insurance companies in Canada have launched flood insurance products in Canada this year.
RSA Canada is set to introduce insurance cover for overland flooding and sewer backup tomorrow, 17 November 2015. The launch by RSA Canada follows the introduction of overland flood coverage by other insurers in the country earlier this year.
RSA Canada Flood Insurance
Under their brand Waterproof Coverage™, the RSA Canada flood insurance will be available from 17 November 2015 in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Prince Edward Island. Quebec, Saskatchewan and the territories will not be included. Damage from saltwater floods, tsunamis, dam breaks or coastal floods is not covered.

In May this year The Co-operators group launched their overland flooding insurance, available in Alberta, covering covers overflow from water bodies, sewer backup and accumulation of surface water.
Announced in February 2015 but launched in June 2015, Aviva Canada introduced their overland water insurance protection for personal property in Ontario and Alberta.
