The Citarum River in Bandung regency, West Java province, Indonesia, once again overflowed causing flooding in as many as 15 districts in the area. At least 2 people have died in the floods.
Torrential rain which began on Tuesday 08 March, continued until early Sunday 13 March increased river levels.
Indonesia National Board for Disaster Management (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana- BNPB) says that the flooding affected the districts of Cicalengka, Rancaekek, Cileunyi, Solokan Jeruk, Majalaya, Ciparay, Baleendah, Dayeuhkolot, Bojongsoang, Pameungpeuk, Banjaran, Arjasri, Cangkuang, Katapang and Kutawaringin.
Local disaster officials in Bandung reported that as many as 5,900 families (24,000 people) have been affected by the floods. By 15 March, more than 10,000 people had been displaced, despite signs that the flood water was starting to recede.
At least 2 people have died in the floods and 3 are missing. One victim died as a result of electrocution. The other victim died when he was swept away by flood water in Pameungpeuk. Three other people, all thought to be members of the same family as the deceased, are still missing.
