Floods in Adrar State, Algeria

Less than an hour of torrential rainfall on 11th August resulted in flash flooding in the town of Bordj Badji Mokhtar (also named Burj Baji) Adrar State, close to the Mali border in southern Algeria.

It is believed that around 30 houses were completely destroyed, leaving around 130 people homeless. A further 40 houses were damaged or partially destroyed. Algerie 1 reports that 6 people were killed in the floods and around 30 people were injured in the flash floods.

Adrar state authorities are helping the injured and displaced, providing tents and shelter, as well as medical services and food.
