The Caribbean island of Grenada was hit by heavy rain and flooding from 01 August 2018. The rain was caused by a tropical wave interacting with the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
Preliminary reports from National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) in Grenada confirmed several landslides, flooded homes and roadways and land slippages throughout the island. Full damage assessments are yet to be carried out.
Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), quoting NaDMA sources, said there have been no injuries or causalities so far.
Two of the island’s six parishes – St. George and St. David – have been declared disaster zones by Grenada’s National Emergency Advisory Council.
