Flooding has affected several counties in south west Sweden over the last 4 days after long periods of heavy rain. The counties affected include Halland, Värmland and Västra Götaland. More rain is expected over the weekend, according to Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), which could affect other areas of the country.
The current wave of flash floods in Sweden first struck in Getinge, Halland, on 18 and 19 August. The situation there is said to be improving.

One of the worst affected areas over the last 48 hours is Kristinehamn in Värmland, where many roads have been closed as a result of flood water up to 1 metre high. A “Class 2” (mid level) flood warning was in place for Värmland yesterday but this has since been downgraded.
