On 03 June 2014 FloodList reported the flooding in parts of Istanbul, Turkey, that were the result of unusually severe weather. Torrential rain, strong winds and even a small tornado were seen in parts of the city on 02 June 2014. The authorities later described the weather event as a “mini tsunami”.
Further severe weather struck once more in northern Turkey earlier today, Friday 06 June 2014, this time in Zonguldak Province in the Black Sea region. Torrential rain which first began to fall on Thursday 05 June 2014 led to flash flooding in the area around the cities of Zonguldak and Karadeniz Ereğli, which lies around 280 km (173 miles) east of Istanbul.

As a result of the heavy rainfall, the River Güneşli has overflowed, leaving as many as 5 towns and villages in the area under water. The worst affected of the flooded towns is said to be Çaycuma, Zonguldak Province.
