Chinese news agency Xinhua reported last week that at least 10 people had died in the Republic of Congo’s main cities of Brazzaville and Point Noire after their houses were destroyed by flood waters or landslides. Fire-fighters in Brazzaville’s Messengo region were still attempting to locate survivors or bodies Wednesday evening, after heavy rains on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning 4-5 March 2014.
The WMO reported 184mm (7.25”) of rainfall in 24 hours in Point Noire, the second largest city of the country, over 4-5 March.
