UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports that heavy rainfall in parts of Burkina Faso on 19 April led to localized flooding in the commune of Kongoussi, Centre-Nord region,
Among those affected were IDP settlements. OCHA said Kongoussi is host to nearly 21,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs). Local media said that many of those in the camps have been left without shelter after tents and material possessions were washed away. Some local observers said the settlements are located in a known flood zone.
