Mali – Floods in Ménaka, Gao Region, Leave at Least 5 Dead

At least 5 people have been killed in floods in the Gao Region of Mali that began on 08 August 2015.

Heavy rainfall reportedly affected north-eastern Mali on 8 August 2015, triggering flooding in the town of Ménaka, southern Gao Region, according to ECHO.

As of 9 August, media reported five people killed and 400 houses damaged in the town. The town’s water wells have also been affected, contaminating the water.

Moderate rainfall is forecast for north-eastern and southern Gao Region over the next 24 hours, according to NOAA.
