Nigeria – at Least 8 Killed in Floods in Niger State

Local media in Nigeria are reporting that at least 8 people have died in flooding in Niger State. At least 2 others are still missing.

The flooding struck during the evening of 02 July, 2018. According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) said that eight bodies have been recovered following a downpour in Rafi-Gora village and Gangare Saji in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state. All the victims are reportedly teenagers or children.

Meanwhile an official from Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said that there is an increased risk of flooding over the coming days in the states of Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi.
