At least 12 people died in Rwanda following a torrential rain on 25 December, 2019.

According to disaster officials, the torrential rain destroyed 113 houses and wide areas of crops across the country. Roads were damaged and water and power supply interrupted.
Local media said that the capital Kigali was the worst affected area, where over 60 houses were destroyed and at least 4 fatalities reported. Rwanda’s New Times newspaper said that 140mm of rain fell in 4 to 5 hours in Kigali.
