Heavy rain caused severe flash flooding in Gahunga, Burera District in the Northern Province of Rwanda on 27 April 2021.
According to the district government, 1 person died in the floods, which destroyed 3 houses and damaged several others. Two bridges were also destroyed.
Crops and livestock also suffered damage, including over 200 hectares of plantations of potatoes, maize, beans, pyrethrum, impacting livelihoods of local residents.
