The situation is so critical the Superintendent of the Chañaral fire department, Fernando Pérez, said that they can not say how many people are still missing in the floods.

The town of El Salado, in the commune of Chañaral, is totally isolated after the Salado river overflowed. ONEMI say that emergency workers are present in the town.
