At least 2 people have died in a landslides in Caquetá department in southern Colombia.
The landslide struck on 22 June in Florencia municipality a period of rain. Civil Defence in Colombia reported that 2 people died in the landslides. According to local media, one person is missing and four were injured. The landslide occurred along a stretch of road from Florencia to Neiva in Huila Department. The victims were in vehicles at the time. This recent deadly incident is one of several landslides have occurred on roads in the area over the last few days.
Colombia’s meteorological institute (Instituto de Hidrología, Meteorología y Estudios Ambientales – IDEAM) has issued a red alert for further landslides in Florencia municipality until 25 June, and an orange alert for rising rivers, in particular the Orteguaza River which stood at 6.18 metres at Venezia on 22 June.
Yellow level warnings for increased levels of the Caquetá River have been issued in the municipalities of Puerto Guzmán, Solita, Curillo and Solano in Caquetá Department.
