Disaster authorities in Ecuador report that heavy rain over the last few days has triggered flooding in Manabí, El Oro and Morona Santiago Provinces.

Around 200 people have been affected by flooding in the province of Manabí. Flooding struck after heavy rain on 20 February, 2020. Ecuador’s Servicio Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos y Emergencias (SNGRE) said 25 families were affected in Jama, 16 in Chone and 6 in Pedernales cantons. Relief supplies and assistance has been delivered to affected areas, SNGRE said.
Further south, flooding affected parts of El Oro province on 21 February. SNGRE said the most affected cantons are Machala, Santa Rosa, Huaquillas, Portovelo, El Guabo and Portovelo. Ten families have been displaced and 46 homes have been damaged, affecting over 200 people. Roads and bridges were also damaged, with 1 bridge completely destroyed.
In Morona Santiago Province, heavy rainfall caused several rivers to overflow in Morona canton, destroying 1 house and damaging around 40 others. SNGRE said 8 people were displaced and around 50 families were affected.
