Ecuador – Floods and Landslides in Pastaza Province

Ecuador‘s disaster agency has delivered relief supplies to remote communities in Pastaza Province after ongoing river flooding left areas isolated.

On 02 November, 2109, Servicio Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos y Emergencias del Ecuador (SNGRE) said teams working with military personnel sent relief supplies to dozens of families after floods in the municipalities of Río Corrientes and Río Tigre municipality where numerous rivers have overflowed.

The province was hit by heavy rain from late October. On 20 October areas around the provincial capital, Puyo, were badly affected. The Puyo river broke its banks and heavy rain triggered landslides. Homes were damaged or destroyed prompting evacuations. Local media reported one fatality in Fatima near Puyo.
