Granma, the official state newspaper of Cuba, has reported that 2 people died after part of a building collapsed as a result of flooding.

Days of heavy rain left streets of Havana inundated. The heavy rainfall was also over much of western Cuba, and first began on Friday 29 November. Artemisa province in the west of Cuba was also badly affected with families needing to be evacuated from their homes. Granma said that the area under threat of floods also stretched inland as far as Ciego de Avila province.

Havana saw as much as 72mm of rain in 3 hours on Friday 29 November, and around 200mm in a 12 hour period overnight, from 29 to 30 November.

The victims in the building collapse in Havana were reported as a 60 year old woman and 54 year old man, who both lived in the building.
