Heavy rainfall has caused flooding and landslides in the province of Catamarca, north west Argentina.
On 24 January 2014, at least 13 people died in landslides in the region, with a further four people still missing. The worst affected areas are the towns of Siján and El Rodeo where around 60 people have been evacuated after their homes were destroyed.

Rescue efforts continue to find the four missing people. However, conintued heavy rainfall left levels to the Ambato River vey high and close to overflowing, posing further dangers for residents and rescue teams.
