FEMA Declares Disaster for Maine Winter Storm and Floods January 2015

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced on 13 March 2015 that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of Maine after the severe winter storm and floods that struck in late January 2015.

The declaration means that further money is available to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in Androscoggin, Cumberland, and York counties.

Eligible costs could include repairing or replacing damaged public facilities, such as roads, bridges, utilities, buildings, schools, recreational areas and similar publicly owned property, as well as for hazard mitigation projects undertaken by state and local governments to prevent or reduce long-term risk to life and property from natural or technological disasters.
