Afghanistan‘s National Disaster management Agency (ANDMA) reports flooding has affected eastern provinces of the country after heavy rainfall from 25 August 2020.


At least 35 people have died in the floods in Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, Wardak, Logar, Paktika, Paktia, Nuristan and Nangarhar provinces.
Areas of Parwan district have been particularly badly affected after flash floods struck overnight, 25 to 26 August. ANDMA reported at least 30 fatalities in the province, with 20 injured and 300 homes destroyed or severely damaged.
Afghanistan Meteorological Department had warned of heavy rainfall for eastern provinces from 25 to 26 August.
