Pakistan – Fatalities After Heavy Rain and Flash Floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least 8 people have died after in northwestern Pakistan after heavy rain caused damage and triggered flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from 30 September, 2019.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, 5 of the victims died when 2 buildings collapsed in separate incidents in Mardan district. Three other victims were washed away by flooding in Dir Lower district.

In Swabi district 3 people were injured after a roof collapsed. Two houses in Bajaur district were also destroyed by flooding. No casualties were reported. A landslide triggered by the heavy rain has blocked a road in Barang, Bajaur.

Further heavy rain is expected over the coming days according to Pakistan Meteorological Department.
