Saudi Arabia – Deadly Flash Floods in Eastern Province After 43mm of Rain in 30 Minutes

Severe weather including strong winds and heavy rain on 27 October, 2019, caused severe damage in Hafr Al-Batin in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia.

The rainstorm hit during the afternoon of 27 October, and dumped 43mm of rain in just 30 minutes, according to the secretariat of Hafr Al-Batin governorate.

Local media said that 7 people died in the storm and 11 people were injured. Civil Defense rescued 16 people from vehicles trapped in flood water. Three buildings were damaged, along with around 40 cars. Around 1,100 people were affected.
