Thailand – 60,000 Affected by Floods in Narathiwat Province

Disaster authorities in Thailand report that almost 60,000 people were affected by recent flooding in Narathiwat Province.

Flooding began in Narathiwat around 30 November, 2019 and continued for several days. Around 30 roads were flooded, 39 schools damaged and 20,000 homes affected. The were no serious injuries or deaths. Over 180 people evacuated their homes as a result of the floods.

The province declared a disaster for affected areas and relief supplies have been distributed to affected families. As of 08 December some flooding remained in 3 districts.

Parts of the province border the Malaysian state of Kelantan, where along with areas of Terengganu, 15,000 people were affected by floods during the same period.
