Vietnam’s Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) reports that 3 people have died after flash floods in northern provinces.
Floods swept though a village in Minh Luong Commune, Van Ban District, in Lao Cai Province of northern Vietnam, in the early hours of 17 April 2021.
Local media said the sudden flood brought down with it a large volume of rocks and earth as it hit the village. Two people died and one person was reported missing, later found dead. VDMA said 36 homes were damaged in the disaster.
Heavy rainfall was reported in parts of the north 16 to 17 April 2021, including Tan Dong (Yen Bai Province) with 155mm in 24 hours, Bac Quang in Ha Giang Proivince (113mm) and Viet Tien in Lao Cai Province (109mm). Homes were also reported damage in Ha Giang Province.
