Disaster officials in Vietnam report that at least 12 people have died as a result of heavy rain, flooding and landslides brought by Tropical Depression Toraji.

Toraji made landfall close to Vinh Hai town in Ninh Thuan Province on 18 November, 2018. Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa province, about 60km north of Vinh Hai, recorded 382mm of rain in 24 hours to 18 November.
Vietnam’s Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention said that 12 people have died in landslides in Khanh Hoa Province, with a further 5 people still missing and 11 injured. Over 40 homes have been destroyed in the province, with 30 of them in Nha Trang City and others in Cam Lam (7) and Ninh Hoa (6).
Around 2,000 people have been evacuated from flooded areas, most of them in Nha Trang City.
Toraji also affected parts of Ninh Thuan province and Phu Yen Province, where over 20 people were injured and around 150 homes have been damaged.
According to the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention, at least 175 people have been killed in natural disasters throughout the country since the beginning of 2018.
