Floods in South East Queensland

Severe storms have dumped heavy rain across south-east Queensland, causing flash floods and some power cuts to around 3,000 homes. Further storms are likely, with the possibility of further heavy rain and flooding.

Flooding caused some traffic problems in Brisbane, where some roads were under 1 metre of water. Public transport also suffered interruptions.

The heavy rain began yesterday afternoon. Moggill in the west of Brisbane saw 135mm in just a few hours. Ipswich saw just over 100mm rain.

Storm warnings are still in place for parts of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Redland City, North Stradbroke Island, Gold Coast City, Logan City, Sunshine Coast and Somerset council areas.
