Heavy rainfall that began around 6 January 2014 has left eight provinces in Coastal and Sierra regions of Ecuador suffering from severe floods and landslides. Three people have been reported as killed in the floods, with 37 injured and around 100 houses destroyed or damaged. Some roads have been bocked by landslides and there has been damage to infrastructure, including roads and power supplies. The affected provinces are Guayas, Manabí, Esmeraldas, El Oro, Los Ríos, Chimborazo, Cotopaxi and Tunguragua.
