Local media in Colombia report that flooding from the Unguía river and its tributaries in Chocó Department has affected 1,200 families.
Flooding inundated areas of Unguía Municipality from 30 December, 2019. The town of Unguía is situated on the banks of the Unguía river. Media said at one point around 90% of the urban area was under water.
Also in northern Colombia, levels of the San Jorge river at Montelíbano in Córdoba Department are above danger levels. As of 07 January the river stood at 5.70 metres, where the red alert level (highest) is 4 metres.
