Heavy rain in western and central parts of Indonesia that began around 15 October has caused flooding in 3 different provinces. Dozens of homes have been damaged and over 200 people displaced.
West Java Province
Flooding struck parts of Sukabumi Regency in West Java Province on 15 October. Forty-three homes were damaged, as well as roads and crops. According to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre), 100 people have been displaced and a total of 175 people affected.
Central Kalimantan Province
After heavy rain on 16 October 2020, flooding displaced 125 people in West Kotawaringin Regency in Central Kalimantan Province. Thirty-four houses were damaged and a total of 170 people affected.
Bangka Belitung Islands Province
Around 350 people were affected by flooding in Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province after heavy rain from 18 October. Twenty-four homes were damage. There were no reports of displacements.
Beluluk in Central Bangka Regency recorded 117.5mm of rain in 24 hours to 19 October, according to Indonesia’s meteorological agency BMKG.
