Heavy rain in seperate parts of Malaysia have led to some flooding, with over 50 families evacuated and staying in relief centres.
Sabah
Beaufort
After further heavy rain, the floods in Sabah state, Malaysia have spread to wider areas over the weekend, this time to Beaufort, which was under as much as 2 metres of flood water in some areas. Around 30 families had to be evacuated and are now staying in relief camps.
Tenom
There was better new for the victims of the floods elsewhere in Sabha. Flood water in the area near Tenom has started to recede and many of the evacuees have started to return home.
Terengganu
Elsewhere in Malaysia, floods have struck again in Terengganu. The area suffered from severe flooding early in December. Forecasters predicted a “second wave” of flooding last week. The second wave appeared to have been avoided, but heavy rain that began on Saturday 21 December has led to flash floods in Kemaman. Around 23 families had to be evacuated and moved to relief centres.
